Falaknuma Palace Hyderabad is listed amongst the most imposing monument in the country because of the amazing piece of architecture. This city of the Nizams boasts of owning some of the most impressive edifices in the world. This Palace in Hyderabad stands as a testimony to the glorious time of the Nizams. It is one of the finest pieces of architecture, built by the Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra.
Falaknuma Palace (Star of Heaven in Urdu), located close to the Charminar served as the royal guest house for the rulers of the city. It shows a rare style of the Italian and Tudor architecture and took 9 years to complete. The exterior of the Palace is as impressive as the interior. Italian marble were imported for this works.
The Palace is shaped like a scorpion and the stings project from the northern side of the palace. The arched gateways of the palace is built Neo Classical style. The staircase that leading to the various floors are made of Italian marble. Marble figures and structures are another feature of the Falaknuma Palace and portraits of the British Governor Generals adorn its interior walls. The library is equally impressive and is decorated with walnut wood carvings. It houses some of the rarest manuscripts and books in the world.
In the palace we see a large number of rooms built for various purposes. There are a total of 222 opulent rooms and 22 halls. There is a billiard room, a card room, a smoking room, a massive dining hall and others. The rooms are beautifully decorated with arches, upholstery, gilded works and state of the art furniture. The reception is the major highlight of the palace with gilded decors and frescos.
The Venetian chandeliers are the major draw of the palace. There are 40 such chandeliers spread all through the Palace. The colored glass of the windows also adds charm to the palace and houses the largest manually operated organ in the world. The collections of jade articles in the palace are one of its kinds in the world.

India has many palaces which were built by some of the great ancient rulers. Chowmahalla is one such palace which remains a masterpiece. The design and the features of this palace is so marvelous that the modern buildings of today cannot compete with the beauty and charm of this palace.
This palace still stands as a symbol which represents the culture and skills of our ancestors. Here, in the past, lived the rulers of this state (Nizam’s) and all the major ceremonies during the were conducted here. At present the palace is owned by a member of the Nizam’s lineage named Barkat Ali Khan Mukkaram Jah.

The Salar Jung Museum is a repository of the artistic achievements of diverse European, Asian and Far Eastern countries of the world. The major portion of this collection was acquired by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan popularly known as Salar Jung III. The Salar Jung Museum houses the largest one-man collection of antiques in the world. It is well known, throughout India for its prized collections belonging to different civilizations dating back to the 1st century. A visit to the Pearl city of Hyderabad is definitely incomplete without a visit to this incredible museum.

The Golconda Fort used to have a vault where once the famous Koh-I-Noor and Hope diamonds, among others, were stored.
The Fort, originally built by the Kakatiya Rulers, has amazingly advanced acoustic systems that were used for signaling approaching enemy as well as for detecting conspiracies being hatched in the palace corners. The Fort also is unique in the usage of natural boulders (that date back to a billion years) distinctive of the Deccan plateau, as foundation stones for the structure. A visit to Golconda fort will help trace the history of the Qutub Shahi dynasty which ruled the city between 1518 and 1687 AD.
The fort has a Sound & Light show in the evening in three languages. It narrates the stories of the rulers of this dynasty with a special emphasis on the love story between Mohd Quli Qutub Shah and Baghmati. You will also hear the story of Aurangzeb’s long and frustrating siege of the Golconda Fort.

Warangal Fort belongs to the 13th century which was constructed by King Ganapati Deva. The fort with exquisite carved pillars and arches was intended to be the second Capital. The fort houses a temple, which is dedicated to Swayambhudevi, (Mother Earth). The fort being invincible was called the seat of power. The entrance of the Fort is built in south Indian architectural style. Though it is in ruins, it still provides room for interesting study that aids in research of ancient history and sculptures.

Orugallu, old name of Warangal. ‘Oru’ means one and ‘Kallu’ means stone. The entire city was carved from a single rock, hence the name Orukallu, which means ‘one rock’.
It was the capital of Hindu Shaivite kingdom ruled by the Kakatiya dynasty from the 12th to the 14th century. The Thousand Pillar temple belongs to the 12th century. It is located near the Hanamkonda-Warangal highway. The construction displays the influence of the Kakatiya architectural style. There are three shrines inside the temple called the Trikutalayam, dedicated to three gods Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya. The temple is surrounded by a big garden in which many small ‘lingam’ shrines can be seen. There is a carving of a Nandi bull in the form of a highly polished black basalt monolith.

It belongs to the 8th century and it is amongst the oldest temple constructed for Goddess Bhadrakali. The idol of Goddess Kali is enshrined in this temple, which is situated on a hill. The ancient temple was built during the reign of the Kakatiya dynasty. The construction bears the influence of Chalukya architectural style. The rock formations that were naturally formed around the temple make the place serene.

On the way to Charminar pass by Assembly Building. It is the first Legislative assembly that came into being on 1st March 1952 in the old state of Hyderabad. Next comes the Mozamjahi Market for it’s old shops, then the Osmania Hospital which is one of a kind building and then to the High Court. You may have short photo stop in these places to capture the beauty of these centuries’ old buildings.

We reach the massive and impressive structure with four minarets. The fifth ruler of the Qutub Shahi dynasty Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah built it in 1591. It is now the global icon of Hyderabad.
The Charminar is a square structure with each side measuring 20 meters long in length, with four grand arches each facing a fundamental point that open into four streets. At each corner stands an exquisitely shaped minaret, 56 meters (approximately 184 feet) tall, with a double balcony. Each minaret is crowned by a bulbous dome with dainty petal-like designs at the base.

Brocade, velvet and gold embroidered fabrics, traditional Khara Dupattas, lacquer bangles and perfumes.
