From migratory birds finding a winter home to Deer parks and movie shoots, these 7 lakes are a must-visit for every tourist!
1.HUSSAIN SAGAR
Acknowledged to be the heart of the world, Hussain Sagar lake is one of the many visual treats of Hyderabad. A perfect place to visit with your family and friends on weekends, there are more than few things to do at this lake like boating, parasailing, cycling etc. Besides adventure sports, the lake also offers a majestic sight of the monolithic Buddha statue right in the middle of the lake. One of the most unique thing about the lake is its heart shaped design which adds a romantic charm to its other characteristics. It is more than common that a lot of couples can be spotted in or around the lake especially at the night when a romantic boat ride is all you need to fall in love with the lake’s charm.
2.OSMAN SAGAR
Commonly known as Gandipet, Osman Sagar lake is located on outskirts of Hyderabad. Due to its close proximity, the lake is one of the most visited spots for picnickers. One can sit for hours with their friends and enjoy the scenic beauty whilst catching up on their lives. The lake is also the location for ‘Ocean Park’, it is one of the first amusement parks in both the cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
3. DURGAM CHERUVU
Also, known as the secret lake, DurgamCheruvu is a promoted tourist destination by the Telangana state tourism department. One can take a stroll down the place with friends and loved ones and can choose to move around and sight see or do boating instead. Apart from sightseeing and boating one can also choose to engage in adventure activities, those were recently introduced it is one of the many romantic spots in the city where lovers often visit to spend time with their better halves.
4. SAROORNAGAR LAKE
Just like Hussain Sagar, Saroornagar lake is another artificial lake in the premises of Hyderabad. Another visiting spot for fellow travellers and tourists, the lake houses a large number of migratory birds, and hence one can always come across a large flock of beautiful birds painting the picturesque sight. A lot of families are seen to visit this spot on weekends to experience the scenic bliss and the park is one of the favourite spot for your little ones. Don’t forget to pack your camera for an evening of bird watching.
5. HIMAYAT SAGAR LAKE
Just about a mere distance of 20kms from Hyderabad, HimayatSagar is a sibling lake to Osman Sagar lake. A short drive from Hyderabad is a preferred choice due to the newly laid roads to the lake, making the drive smooth and lovely. One can always enjoy a hot chai and biscuits at the destination packed as a picnic with your near and dear ones. The lake is a less visited destination for families and a haunt for couples and nature lovers. Head there for a quiet, romantic afternoon!
6. MIR ALAM TANK
Located 16kms away from Hyderabad, Mir Alam Tank is a popular tourist destination due to its location adjacent to Nehru Zoological Park. One can easily be mesmerized by the beauty of flora and fauna around the location. Besides Flora and fauna, the lake also houses a mile-long bund with its semi-circular arches. Children can always visit the Nehru Zoological Park and gain some knowledge with Fun, while adults can enjoy the scenic composition of the waterbody.
7. SHAMIRPET LAKE
The favourite location for Telugu film makers, the Shamirpet lake is dotted with resorts and good places to hang out. Visit the Jawahar Deer Park for a quiet natural rendezvous and hope to run into some movie stars! The lake is about 24km north of Secunderabad and was built during the Nizam’s reign.
